OLATHE, Kan. -- New construction at the Garmin campus in Olathe means growth and new jobs over the next few years. The company celebrated a ground-breaking on the expansion Friday afternoon, off 151st St. near I-35.
Thousands of employees watched as Garmin planes flew over the campus to kick off the ground-breaking. The four-year, two-phase project will cost $200 million. Besides office, manufacturing, and research space, employees will have a fitness center, walking trails, and athletic fields.
The new space will allow for the company to house more than double the current number of employees at the Olathe location.
The expansion should wrap up in 2020.
