KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three people were shot dead in less than 24 in Kansas City, Mo., over the holiday weekend, and so far no arrests have been made in any of the cases.
According to police, the homicide squad was working overtime and had to call in another squad to help with the three homicide investigations.
The most recent shooting happened around 7 p.m., Monday at Sni-A-Bar Terrace and Skiles Avenue. Police say they found 45-year-old Shane Hedges outside suffering from a gunshot wound. Hedges was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier Monday, police a woman was shot and killed near 45th and Garfield.
Around 10 p.m., Sunday someone shot and killed 29-year-old Desmond Jenkins near 41st and Bellefontaine.
Police say the shootings have to stop and folks need to find other ways to solve conflicts than with violence.
"Our city has got to find some resolution to conflict," Kari Thompson with Kansas City police said. "We have got to get to the bottom of this. Our agency cannot do this alone, we need our city to come together."
No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.
