Teenager finds two bodies in KCK home; police investigating case as a murder-suicide

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Investigators were in the area of S. 46th Terrace and Locust Avenue on Tuesday afternoon where two bodies were found in a home. Police say about 2:40 p.m., a 17-year-old girl who lives there came home after school and found her mother and a man FOX 4 believes is her step-father both dead.

When detectives entered the home, the woman was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound, and shortly after 5 p.m., FOX 4's Shannon O'Brien said the investigation is now considered a murder-suicide.

Neighbors say the man had a bad temper and often threatened his wife and other people in the neighborhood with violence.

“They kept to themselves, they didn`t want nobody to come to the door or anything, they weren`t very friendly,” said Denise Whiles.

“I just saw him Saturday. He was very upset because one of my friends parked right in front of his house, and he went to go threaten, saying that if my friend did not move her car, he was going to call the cops,” said Luz Guevara.

One neighbor who did not want to go on camera said she saw the couple fighting on Tuesday morning. At about 11:30, she said as the wife was walking out of the house, she heard her husband yelling that today was the day he was going to kill her.

According to the neighbor, the wife yelled back that he wasn`t going to put her down anymore, walked back into the house and slammed the door.

Police say there were no signs of forced entry at the home, and recently acquired a search to continue investigating inside the house. Neither victim has been formally identified yet.
