39-year-old man charged in Johnson County with impersonating officer

OLATHE, Kan. —  A DeSoto, Kan, man was charged on Thursday in Johnson County for falsely impersonating an officer.

Prosecutors charged James Travis, 39,  with one count of aggravated assault and one count of false impersonation.

According to charging documents, Travis unlawfully represented himself to be a police officer and placed the victim in reasonable apprehension of immediate bodily harm with an air soft gun.

Travis is set to appear in court Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Travis’ bond has been set at $5,000 cash.
