KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Is "Captain America: Civil War" a Marvel? "The Conjuring 2" too much? "Popstar" get popcorn bags? Here's this week's Popcorn Bag Home Video Reviews!
1) CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (PG-13)
Walt Disney Pictures
The latest comic book extravaganza from the folks at Marvel, “Captain America: Civil War” is everything that “Batman v Superman” wishes it could have been. A villain cleverly manipulates The Avengers into a battle that splits the team in two, pitting Iron Man and his super allies against Captain America and his Avenger crew. Naturally, when these forces got into battle with one another, mayhem abounds.
Noisy, over-long and slightly confusing. It's a messy mix but somewhat entertaining.
Kansas City's Don Cheadle is on one side as War Machine and Overland Park's Paul Rudd is on the other as Ant-Man. Yes, its a new border war!
The concept is the best part of the movie. Seeing all of your favorite characters in the mix is cool. Just all needed to be more coherent.
Even though there are some dark themes in “Civil War,” the movie has plenty of action, good humor and a real sense of fun, so it never devolves into sharing the dour and brooding tone that plagued “Batman v Superman.” “Captain America: Civil War” proves that, a house divided…can be very entertaining.
The collector's edition is loaded with extra including an exclusive sneak peek. Go behind and beyond the scenes as Doctor Strange makes his journey to the big screen.

2) THE CONJURING 2 (R)
Warner Brothers Pictures
If director James Wan had worked in the Golden Age of Hollywood, he might have made musicals. His camera work is more like choreography than direction. But it’s that showy style that makes his horror entry “The Conjuring 2” work as well as it does. The entire creative team behind the hit chiller “The Conjuring” is back, telling the so-called true story of a supernatural event.
The first movie was excellent and so is this sequel. This is high quality horror. Sure it's scary but it's well produced scary. Not something you see every day or pretty much ever.
While there are more than a few genuinely creepy moments in this tale of demonic possession, there are a couple of unintentionally funny ones, too. While overlong and derivative, “The Conjuring 2” is a generally effective creepfest.
"The Conjuring 2" is a terrific horror movie. Maybe the best horror sequel ever. It won't scare you to death but it is suspenseful and creepy enough to cause you to lose sleep. The old school vibe adds tension and gives the movie a retro vibe.

3) POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING (R)
Never Stop Never Stopping" is nothing more than a series of SNL sketches but they are really good SNL sketches which makes this movie surprisingly funny and really fun to watch. Andy Sandberg and his two buddies who are the fictional group The Lonely Island are pop culture gurus and they ingeniously poke fun at today's culture and take it down with insightful slam after slam. And nothing is safe from their clever ridicule -- modern pop and rap music, social media and celebrity excess. Remember these are the guys responsible for that SNL skit that featured Justin Timberlake and a certain body part in a box. The movie is also over-populated with cameos but they are killer cameos so all is good. It's like playing a TMZ version of Where's Waldo if that makes sense? Well, "Popstar" does and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a few good laughs.
