Investigation reveals 28-year-old man found dead near 136th and Holmes was a shot to death

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —Kansas City police have identified the victim who was shot to death then found near 136th and Holmes Tuesday morning.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old Jaime Patton.

Officers were initially dispatched to the area upon reports of an unresponsive man in the street. Responding officers reported that the man, Patton, was dead when they arrived.

According to police, Patton had several injuries, but it was not immediately clear how he died. On Thursday police said further investigation has revealed that Patton  had been shot to death.

Residents of the area say the homicide has left an unsettled feeling and is unusual for the area.

“It`s just kind of weird,” a business manager in the area told FOX 4 in a previous interview. “I’ve been here 6.5 years and that`s the first time anything has happened like that in this area.”
