Two people injured in two separate shootings that happened within blocks of each other

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police are investigating two shootings that happened within blocks of each other overnight Wednesday.

Police say just after 11:15 p.m, police found a woman who had been shot  near 22nd and Prospect. Her injuries are considered non life-threatening, police say.   The woman told police the suspect exited the passenger side of a vehicle with a green hoodie tied as a mask around his face. He then produced a gun and fired a shot in her direction. That woman was taken to the hospital. Investigators believe three men who took off in a blue Crown Victoria may have had something to do with the shooting.

The second shooting happened just after 2:30 a.m., Thursday. A police sergeant says someone stopped them in the area of 31st and Prospect and said a woman was injured.   The sergeant found a woman who had been shot in the head on the sidewalk near 30th and Prospect. That victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.   It's not clear how she was shot.
