KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Six people were reportedly shot in the early hours Sunday. Police said they have two suspects in custody.

Around 3:20 a.m. police said officers patrolling the Westport area heard multiple shots fired into a group of people.

Six people were reportedly struck, with one person said to have critical injuries. The others are believed to be non-life threatening.

As police arrived, the shooters then got into a car and attempted to flee the scene. The driver "overtly drove" at one of the officers, who opened fire on the suspects in the vehicle. The driver then crashed into a private security vehicle at 39th Street and Southwest Trafficway.

One male suspect and one female suspect were taken into police custody.

The investigation is ongoing. FOX 4 will have more information as details emerge.
