"He is micro chipped so we are hoping that someone picks him up and takes him to a vet or an animal shelter, and he's scanned because it will come back to us," Danielle Reno with Unleashed Pet Rescue said. "We did report him stolen to the micro chip company."

The shelter says they have filed a police report, and the shelter is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the puppy's return.

"Someone's just going to have to recognize him," Reno said. "He has some distinctive markings with the white stripe down his head."

Anyone with information about Barrita's disappearance is asked to call police.
