KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- An investigation is underway into what sparked an early morning house fire in Kansas City, Kan., Monday.
Those who live at 24th and Parallel Parkway called 911 when they woke up to a heavy smell of smoke sometime before 4 a.m.
Firefighters say the house appears to have been undergoing renovations.
Firefighters were able to get the flames out quickly, but there is considerable damage to both the basement and first floor.
No one was inside at the time.
