Man charged in Merriam 7-Eleven shooting, robbery sentenced to more than 16 years in prison

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. — The Overland Park man charged in the Sept. 2, 2015 shooting and robbery at a 7-Eleven in Merriam has been sentenced to 202 Months in prison.

Javon Mills, 19,  pleaded guilty to 1st degree murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault in July of 2016 and on Friday, Sept. 23 was sentenced to 202 months in prison.

Mills pleaded guilty to shooting a clerk in the face and taking money from the convenience store and threatening another clerk with a shotgun. The clerk who was shot survived.

He was also accused of stealing that shotgun from two other men.
