Woman says sun’s glare was so bright she didn’t see the man in the crosswalk before she struck and seriously injured him

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A pedestrian is being treated for life-threatening injuries after police say a vehicle hit them Monday morning near 63rd and Brookside Plaza.

Police say the incident took place around 7:23 a.m.

Police say a woman was driving east on 63rd Street just past Brookside Boulevard when a 70-year-old man was crossing the street in the crosswalk. According to police, the sun was rising at the same times and its rays were so bright the driver didn't see the man until it was too late.

The woman hit the man, and the man hit the windshield and rolled off.
