KANSAS CITY, Mo. --  Do you remember being scared to go to the dentist? It's very common, especially if you're in elementary school and  you've never even been to the dentist before.

Lee Tolbert Academy near 34th and Paseo invited a dental van to their school to provide check ups for more than 300 students ranging from kindergarten through eight grade.

The Colgate "Bright Smiles, Bright Future" dental van is a way for uninsured and under-insured students can get an annual check up.

The volunteers who accompanied the van want to cut down statistics that show that one out of every four kids has never seen a dentist before entering kindergarten.

The van will offer free dental screenings, education and referrals.

The students will also be given free tooth brushes and tooth paste.
