GRANDVIEW, Mo. -- It's a foreign exchange program for police. On Wednesday, the Grandview Police Department hosted a an officer from France.

Lietenant Gabrielle Peseux got a chance to ride along with Grandview PD and see what life is like as a cop in the U.S.

They took Peseux on a ride along and showed her two metro police academies. The goal of her visit was to see how police work is done in this country.

"To break the stereotypes about the American police. Really, that's my first thought because all these men and women are my fellow police officers, and I have to tell my men, 'okay, guys, we are all wrong. They are the same as us and we do the same job," Peseux said.

In her native France, Lt. Peseux has been part of some high-profile cases including the Bastille terror attack earlier this year in Nice.
