OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A massive garage in Overland Park in honor of Allie Fisher, a three-year-old girl who passed away from a brain tumor four years ago, will be open until 6 p.m. on Saturday.

As her parents grieved, a neighbor came forward, believing a garage sale in Allie’s honor would help them, with proceeds benefiting the Children’s Brain Tumor Project, to fund research for a cure.

The sale is being held at Valley View United Methodist Church at 95th and Antioch in Overland Park. Dozens of volunteers donated items to be sold.

Allie’s family says they’re overwhelmed with how much it’s grown over the past four years.

“It’s nice to see it grow from a little garage sale in our front yard to the big garage sale in a church,” her father, Kyle, said. “That first year she put it together in three weeks and ended up raising $4,500. People would come and shop the sale and then bring the donations back just to help the cause, which is really amazing.”

Last year they raised $33,000 for brain tumor research.

Update: Here’s an email FOX 4’s Matt Stewart received about the success and support of Allie’s Sale:

Allie’s Sale was a huge success thanks to you.  All weekend we had people coming up and telling us they came out because they saw your interviews.  Thursday turned into Black Friday for most of the day.  At one point there were 150 people shopping and the checkout lines were five people deep with tons of piles of items being held for shoppers.  Anyway, our goal was $40,000 and after expenses we ended up raising $46,000 for the Children’s Brain Tumor Project!  I’ve attached a picture of what it looked like on Wednesday night after setup was done, and then Saturday afternoon right before we started cleaning up. We definitely couldn’t have done it without your help.  So thank you so much! (See picture below.)

Allie’s sale ran Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 6th-8th from 7 a.m., until 6 p.m., at Valley View United Methodist Church at 95th and Antioch in Overland Park.
