KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The second annual Artisan Chick Event was this weekend at Crown Center. There were more than 100 local vendors celebrating all things Kansas City from tea, pickles and salsa to hand-crafted scarves.

By far the youngest vendor was 13-year-old Carina Swanson. She is from Overland Park and knits and crochets her own scarves, hats and blankets. Carina has had her own business on Etsy, called Wexla, for a couple of years, but this is her first event booth.

Her handmade items are so beautiful and well-priced that by the third day of the show, her stock was so low she was knitting like crazy in her booth to keep up with demand. Carina taught herself to knit and crochet using YouTube videos.

By the way, the Holiday Chick Event will hit Lee's Summit the first weekend in December.
