BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- The Blue Springs Police Department met with the media on Wednesday afternoon and said that two possible suspects wanted in connection to a deadly shooting are in custody. A third person police want to talk to about the shooting is in the hospital receiving treatment for a gunshot wound.

Police say around 12:30 a.m., a barrage of gunfire at an apartment complex near Southwest 9th and Meadowridge led residents to call 911. Officers found a 46-year-old Hispanic male dead from an gunshot wound.

Police have not yet released the victim's name or whether he lived in one of those apartments.

Officers got description of the suspects' vehicle, and other officers headed to the scene noticed that vehicle speeding away from the area.

Officers tried to pull over the vehicle, which was heading north on 7 Highway, but the driver steered the car into a ditch near 30th Terrace, and two of the suspects ran off into the woods. A third person remained in the car, and paramedics rushed him to the hospital with a gunshot wound in his stomach.

Officers brought out the K-9 units and searched nearby woods for several hours, but came up empty-handed. However, police said tips led them to find both of the outstanding people wanted for questioning.

The case remains under investigation and anyone with information can call the police department at (816) 228-0151 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
