Lineman show their skills in International Lineman’s Rodeo in Bonner Springs

BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. — It’s a long way to the top, but these lineman are up to the task.

Hundreds of competitors will be rising to the occasion in the 33rd Annual International Lineman’s Rodeo in Bonner Springs, Kan. on Saturday.

Entrants to the competition are made up of three-person teams and individual apprentices from around the world.

Kansas City Power & Light will be represented by several journeyman teams and apprentices in this year’s competition.

Events include the pole climb, hurt man rescue and two mystery events. Competitors are scored on speed, work quality and most importantly, application of safety procedures.

The event will run until 4 p.m. Saturday.
