KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police were forced to break a driver’s car window in an attempt to stop a woman they believed to be intoxicated Saturday afternoon.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m. officers received a call of a suspicious car and occupant, involving a female intoxicated driver.
Police located the vehicle at 47th and Pennsylvania and tried to talk to the driver, but she refused to roll down her window for some time, police said.
She then put the car in reverse toward the patrol vehicle. At that point, officers broke the window trying to take her into custody.
Police said there was also a small child inside the vehicle and officers feared for the child’s safety.
The driver then fled the scene at speeds of 35 miles per hours. She eventually stopped at 39th & Southwest Trafficway, where she was taken into custody.
The driver was transported to the hospital due to her apparent level of intoxication.
25-year-old Heidi Zakeri, of Leawood, Kan., was charged with endangering the welfare of a child; resisting arrest by fleeing; and leaving the scene of an accident, 2nd offense.
There were no injuries to the child, suspect or officers in the incident.
