Suspect in standoff surrenders after shooting leaves woman with life-threatening injuries

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The suspect who engaged police in a standoff after allegedly shooting a woman earlier today has surrendered.

Shortly before 1:20 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to a shooting near East 41st Terrace and Vineyard Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located a female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A male suspect was inside of the residence refusing to exit. Police set up a perimeter around the area while they attempt to negotiate with the suspect.

Police said around 3:30 p.m. the suspect surrendered and is now in police custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
