Police bring out drone in search for person who fired shots at Kansas City police officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City Mo., police say someone fired shots at an officer in the area of 55th & Cambridge Thursday morning shortly after 8:00.  According to police dispatch no one was injured or hit by the gunfire.

The officer was in an unmarked vehicle, conducting a follow-up on an ongoing investigation in the area near 350 Highway and I-435.  As the officer drove by, the suspect came out of a residence and fired at him.

The suspect fled and police set up a perimeter and initiated an 'Operation 100' (for standoff situations) to search for the suspect. They put up a drone to search from the air.

“We are investigating shots fired in that location and are presently searching for the suspect. We will keep you posted once we learn more,” said Kari Thompson KCMO Police spokesperson.
