KANSAS CITY, Kan. --Construction crews at 5th and Oakland in Kansas City, Kan., hit a gas line while working Thursday.
As of 11:51 a.m., no evacuations were ordered and no injuries were reported. The gas company was in the process of shutting off the gas, but they said gas was safely dispersing in the air so evacuations were not necessary.
BPU was working in the area in a water line and accidentally hit a gas line.
The fire department did not have specifics on the size of the damaged gas line, but said when line is repaired, they will check nearby houses to make sure the gas has not accumulated inside.
