Wife screams and tries to stop bleeding after husband shot during robbery in Grandview

GRANDVIEW, Mo. -- A man whose family witnessed his shooting Sunday went into surgery to try to save his life, but he remained in critical condition after he was fired upon approximately four times.

The gunfire rang out in Grandview on Sunday at about 8 p.m. at the Daisy Walnut apartment complex off Blue Ridge Circle.

The victim is 27-years-old. Grandview police say the victim had been in the family vehicle with his wife and their 3 and 5-year-old children when two suspects approached them from a car that contained four suspects.  The two suspects robbed the woman of her purse at gun point.  One of the suspects fired shots and hit the woman’s husband.

Witnesses said they saw the man get shot four times and then fall to the ground. They said after the shots, a car sped off and a woman screamed and came running over to the victim.

They said she was screaming that he wasn't breathing and trying to use a towel to stop the bleeding.

Emergency medical services arrived and rushed the man to the hospital.

The two suspects who approached the victims are described as black males, one wearing a dark ski mask. One of the suspects is described as approximately 19-years old. The suspects of the robbery and shooting left the area in an older dark 4-door car with the other two suspects.
