Devante L. Williams, 21, is charged with 2nd degree assault and armed criminal action after, prosecutors say, he caused the shooting at an apartment near 34th and Harrison around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police arrived at the scene to find the woman with a gunshot wound to her pelvic area. A friend told FOX 4 the woman is 6 months pregnant, and that the man is her boyfriend and the unborn child’s father.

The victim told investigators said she was shot as she and Williams were play fighting while he was holding a gun.

Prosecutors said Williams then left the apartment and threw the gun and the magazine into the bushes down a nearby alley.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where she is currently listed in stable condition. The baby was not harmed, investigators said.

Williams was taken into custody at the time of the incident. Prosecutors have requested a $75,000 bond.
