KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- During a time of giving thanks, a local mom took time to pay it forward to an elementary custodian who takes pride not only in keeping her classrooms spotless but also keeping her students happy.

Courtney and Sahara Hawkins say Terri Rodriguez has a great attitude and does really well with the students.

"She keeps the place clean, keeps it up and just her attitude is catching," Courtney said. "She just has a great attitude and that's first and foremost. I think it should be rewarded."

Rodriguez is one of the environmental services workers at the Holliday Montessori School.

"I just wanted to thank you," Courtney told Rodriguez. "You didn't know that night I was paying attention. We had parent-teacher conferences, I had my kids over there, and you kept them entertained and watch them. I really appreciate it and just your attitude in your smile. You're just a wonderful person."

As the Hawkins presented Rodriguez with their tokens of appreciation and $300 as part of FOX 4's Pay-It-Forward Award, Rodriguez  stood there with a giant smile on her face. Watch the video above to see her humble reaction.
