KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Investigators are trying to find out who robbed, shot and killed a man near 49th and Bellefontaine on Wednesday. Family told FOX 4 that Arthur Lee Mourning Junior, 49, was a loving father of six.

“He was a dad, son and brother,” said Trina Dodson, the victim’s sister. “He was the glue in our family and for this to happen to him, it took away a lot.”

Police said the deadly shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Police said the suspect knocked on the victim’s door, confronted him, robbed him and then shot him.

“He was a very private person,” Dodson told FOX 4. “He wasn’t in the streets, he didn’t go to the clubs."

Dodson said she thinks her brother's shooting death was random. She said nobody has a reason to target him.

"Yesterday we were at my mom's and I was just waiting for him to come through the door and he never came," Dodson said in tears.

She said even though her brother was 49 their mother called him her baby. Police ask anybody with information about the deadly shooting to call the TIPS Hotline at (816)-474-TIPS.
