Man accused of using car as weapon against Merriam police officer

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A 21-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man is charged in Johnson County with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

Police say Thanksgiving night Markelo Paden refused to stop for police and used his car to put the Merriam police officer in danger. In addition to the aggravated battery charge, he’s also charged with reckless fleeing of a law enforcement officer and criminal restraint of another person.

Bond is set at $75,000.
