KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Shots fired in a Kansas City trailer park, as residents run out to find a man dead, just feet from their homes at the Lakeview Terrace mobile homes. Sunday night, police are searching for a suspect.

Crime scene tape wrapped around a tree and drops of the victim’s blood remain -- signs of a horrific night.

"We were in the back just getting ready to go to bed, heard five gunshots going off."

Joseph Boland lives in the Lakeview Terrace mobile home community. He and his wife were getting ready for bed when he heard bullets fly, just a few feet from his window.

"She thought it was fireworks. I was like, 'no that's gun fire.'"

Joseph ran outside to find a man, motionless and two women frantic.

“They were talking to the guy, trying to get him to get up. Regain consciousness.”

But it was too late, the young man was pronounced dead next to a car covered in bullet holes. Friends tell FOX 4 the victim went by A.J. and was in his 20’s.

24 hours later, residents are having a tough time shaking what they saw and with no arrests in the case, they’re having a tough time feeling safe in their homes.
