KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Grand Avenue or Grand Boulevard debate will go down in FOX 4 morning show history as one of the strangest debates of all time.
The debate began Wednesday when FOX 4's Kathy Quinn went live from the bridge to let drivers know that the construction will soon be complete the bridge will be open to drivers beginning Friday. When the bridge reopens, I-670 will also reopen to traffic.
But when Kathy mentioned Grand Boulevard, immediate confusion erupted because road signs in the area say, "Grand Ave."
After lots of emails, phone calls and maps, FOX 4's Nick Vasos finally got an answer on Thursday when MoDOT spokesperson Markl Johnson called in to the morning show.
"It is Grand Boulevard," Johnson said.
When asked why the signs say, "Grand Ave.," Johnson said within MoDOT's system it is referred to as the "Grand Ave. Bridge."
"But if you ask the city of Kansas City, it's Grand Boulevard," Johnson said.
