KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Local culinary students jumped into the holiday spirit by making gingerbread houses Monday, but their creations didn't feature the traditional store-bought box kits.

Students at Manual Career Technical School started with baking the dough and concocting the icing, which is used to "glue" the home together. They then used their imagination, along with candy to create their own winter wonderland.

All of the gingerbread houses will be on display at Union Station.
