OLATHE, Kan. — The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office filed a juvenile charge against a 16-year-old boy for allegedly having a gun on Olathe Northwest’s campus. The charge filed Wednesday is related to an incident that happened on December 1 that led to a school lockdown.

Police said that a janitor found a gun inside of a backpack. The school was locked down while authorities looked for the student. All students were in their last hour of class and about ready for dismissal, which was delayed until the lockdown was lifted, no one was hurt during the incident.

Because the boy charged is a minor, FOX 4 will not identify him. The weapons charge is a misdemeanor, online records don’t list his next court date yet.
