Part-time Reporter

Requirements:
• Brings in story ideas every day.

Experience:
Command of the English language, secondary language such as Spanish, helpful. Should be able to write in complete sentences with proper spelling, punctuation and format. Should be able to function under extreme stress and deadline pressures. Experience in reporting and news gathering preferred. Should have working knowledge of the Internet and feel comfortable using computers and electronic newsgathering equipment.

Education Requirements:
A four year degree in liberal arts or journalism is preferred and/or two years WORK experience.

Physical Requirements:
Dexterity for operating keys and buttons on computer and typewriter. Vision and hearing and vocal communication skills used to gather and report news. Ability to climb ladders and get in remote places to report stories. Ability to use radios, audio equipment, telephones, etc. in newsgathering. Works, as required, outdoors in all kinds and extremes of weather. Must be able to drive a vehicle.

Traffic Manager

Responsible for all activities of the Traffic department including scheduling of commercials & programs, processing commercial copy and developing the Federal Communications Commission log. Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising staff. Must have previous media traffic experience. Knowledgeable in all aspects of traffic and an understanding of interdepartmental relationships involved in the overall operating of the department. Must have expertise in traffic-oriented computer systems, WideOrbit preferred. Must have management skills to train and direct a variety of work activities of the subordinate staff.

Requires the ability to maintain a positive working relationship with clients and traffic staff while adjusting the commercial format to maximize inventory utilization and company profit. Requires the ability to select, train, and effectively manage the staff, working under deadline pressure, to produce an accurately formatted daily programming schedule. Requires the use of independent judgment in decision-making process.
Must be willing to submit to a background check
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Requirements:

• Provides day-to-day supervision in the Traffic department (linear and digital) encompassing scheduling of commercials to maximize inventory utilization, developing and accurately formatting the Federal Communications Commission log and approving and processing commercial tapes by assigning work priorities.
• Coaching and counseling employees either directly or through subordinate staff, administering discipline, hiring and terminating as required.
• Provides sales management with required information on available inventory, rates, status of specials, etc.
• Reviews and evaluates traffic orders for completeness and accuracy, resolves scheduling discrepancies with traffic personnel.
• Researches and resolves daily log discrepancies.
• Identifies equipment needs of the department, recommends and participates in equipment purchasing decisions, requests equipment maintenance as needed.
• Frequent contact with various departments regarding scheduling-related matters. Occasional external contacts with buyers/agencies to clarify agency instructions and with rep firm sales staff to discuss order-related matters.
• Supervises traffic staff on a daily basis either directly or through subordinate staff members in scheduling commercials, developing FCC logs and approving commercial copy.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned by management.

Production Technician

A production technician at WDAF operates Master Control where we have three live streams. Our main channel 4.1, Antenna TV 4.2, and ‘This TV’ on 4.3. The production technician will also operate ENG live. This involves setting up microwave live shots, satellite shots, doing mic and IFB checks. The technician also operates the Wheatstone E-6 audio board for live newscasts and production. Master control operators are responsible for ensuring that the automation has the correct programs/commercials marked and ready for air, that all EAS tests (weekly/monthly) are aired correctly, that transmitter readings are taken, and will insert necessary information on the air such as Amber Alerts, Election tickers, Live weather tickers, and Snipes.

Promotions Producer/Videographer

The WDAF-TV/FOX 4 promotions producer/videographer produces promotional messages, spots, and elements in support of news and station programming. Creation, conceptualization, writing and editing for special and regularly scheduled promos and commercials, Organizing and coordination of promotional material in support of Creative Services Department initiatives. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of professional video cameras, DSLR cameras, field gear and modern lighting equipment. Experience with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro required. Familiarity with MAC computer platform and Adobe based software products desirable. Must be able to communicate well and get along with people. Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts.

The qualifications for the job include:  four year college degree in journalism or related field preferred, one year of previous television news producing preferred, strong writing skills, basic p.c. and phone skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and managers.

Successful candidates must be a strong writer on multiple platforms, able to produce a dynamic newscast capable of holding and growing an audience, organized, detail oriented, communicative and capable of completing multiple, complex tasks on deadline.

Local Account Executive/Sales Representative

WDAF is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Multi-platform Account Executive to grow our core broadcast business, interactive platforms and digital TV. The AE must develop new business across all platforms. The AE will negotiate rates, prepare and present avails and sales packages to agencies and direct advertisers. The AE will be expected to increase the share of business from existing accounts and create new non-traditional revenue opportunities while utilizing research to position the station as a premiere marketing vehicle and yourself as a marketing consultant. You will create and build relationships with all WDAF-TV, Antenna TV, This TV and fox4kc.com media clients. Candidate must have previous media sales experience.
