FUN SEEKER WANTED
The job is morning meteorologist at WDAF-TV, the FOX affiliate in Kansas City.
But this is much more than a job. This is a lifestyle. Early hours, lots of air time, not a lot of time to prepare, must think quickly on your feet, have a personality viewers enjoy and, especially, be someone who can blend well with our #1 morning team and “get” their sense of humor.
We want someone who loves to have fun without being wacky and over the top. And we want someone who knows more about weather than Anchorman’s Brick “I love lamp” Tamland. Our three member team of meteorologists are all AMS/CBM certified so we take our weather seriously. And we’ve got plenty of it; four distinct seasons and severe weather to boot.
We prefer the successful applicant have a college degree or equivalent in meteorology and AMS and/or CBM certifications. Experience with Weather Central graphics and forecasting is a plus. You will be expected to represent the station at numerous educational and promotional events including live appearances.
Now you know what we’re looking for. What do you offer? Can you start at 4:30 in the morning and deliver weather for up to 5.5 hours? Can you have fun, fit in and bring your “A game” on a daily basis? If so, shoot us your DVD or link and a resume and let’s make some memorable TV together!

Morning-Noon Anchor
We air a lot of news at WDAF!
6.5 hours of it by 1:00 p.m.
But we’re devoted to doing it right.
And, if our ratings are any indication, we’re giving viewers what they want.
Our main morning anchor team has been in place for a decade.
Our morning executive producer has been on staff for 16 years.
Our morning newscasts have 6 producers for 5.5 hours of news.
And we have 3 reporters and 2 meteorologists in the mornings.
Those are the tangibles.
We’re looking for the intangibles; desire to win, the ability to relate to an audience and co-workers, great news judgment and writing and, mostly, a willingness to have fun on and off the air.
One of our two morning anchor teams has an opening to complement the existing male anchor.
If you like winning and think you can make a strong staff even stronger, then we’d like to hear from you.
We’re looking for someone with significant anchor experience, superior reporting skills, quick wit, good sense of humor, expansive knowledge of current events, Kansas City news and sports as well as pop culture.
