Cooper has been dating Sam Miller since the two stepped on American University’s campus four years ago as freshman. The couples’ parents made one thing clear
while they were dating.

“My mom said after graduation, it’s fair game,” Cooper said. “Before that, no marriage.”

Miller’s parents felt the same.

“I think my parents said no tattoos, no piercings and no marriage,” he said.

Miller followed both sets of parents’ wishes and waited exactly five seconds after Cooper received her under undergrad degree to bend down on one knee. The new grad said everything happened so fast, she’s not really sure what was said during the proposal.

“I think he said something about I’ve waited a long time, I can’t wait any longer, please will you marry me?” she said.

The groom-to-be made sure his new fiancé’s ring is very special. The diamonds were passed down from her grandmother and mother’s rings.

Cooper says she doesn’t want to wait to get married. She lost her dad as a child and realizes how sacred life is.

“I don’t see the point in waiting if you love the person, it just doesn’t make sense to me,” she said.

Dusty McGrew, 31, of Marshall, Mo., has been charged with statutory rape and statutory sodomy for relations she allegedly had with a juvenile boy.

According to the probable cause, McGrew met the boy while working at Butterfield Youth Services. According to several witnesses, McGrew and the boy reportedly had sex on several occasions in a variety of locations, including in her car and at a park. According to the probable cause, other juvenile boys would also be in the car while McGrew and the boy had sex. According to one of those boys, McGrew, sitting in the backseat with the juvenile, would place a jacket stretching from the driver-side head rest to the passenger-side head rest, preventing the other boys from seeing the activity.

McGrew’s bond was set at $15,000 on one count and $1,000 on the other. She is scheduled to be back in court for her arraignment on May 23.

According to the Missouri Labor Department, a complaint was received in January regarding violations that occurred in November and December of 2011 at the HyVee on Noland Road in Independence. After an investigation, the Missouri Labor Department fined HyVee.

In addition to employing the two children, the Missouri Labor Department said HyVee also did not have work certificates on file nor did they have a posted list of child employees or maintain personnel files.

According to the department’s website, violations of Missouri’s Child Labor Law are a class C misdemeanors, which are punishable by up to 15 days in jail, a $300 fine, or both.

The Missouri Labor Department has referred the case to the Jackson County prosecuting attorney for possible criminal prosecution.

Members of his family had gathered at the lake and were praying for a miracle.

The victim, Gladin Harrison was a retired veteran of the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department. He was fishing with another man when one of them tired of rowing. His friend says they when they tried to switch places, the boat capsized.

“He loved fishing. He loved hunting,” said Teria Jenkins, Gladin’s cousin. “He was self-sufficient. He took care of himself. He took care of other people. If you called him any time of the day or night, he would always be there. He was a great swimmer and it’s very confusing to us how it happened.”

The man who survived was in the water about 30-45 minutes before somebody heard him yelling for help, the Jackson County Fire Department said. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

The event last Saturday – an 11-hour hard rock extravaganza featuring bands like Shinedown and former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, and sponsored by radio station 98.9 The Rock – was a largely peaceful affair.

But a YouTube video from the event making the rounds on the Internet shows an ugly incident in which a male concertgoer is seen kicking a female concertgoer in the chest before he is taken down and beaten by several bystanders.

The people in the incident are not identified in the video, posted to YouTube on Tuesday by “bstevenskc.” By Wednesday morning, the video had been seen by over 35,000 viewers before it was taken down from YouTube on Wednesday afternoon.

Rockfest is billed as the largest one-day music festival in the nation.

A new survey found women spend days perusing shops, malls and online boutiques searching for the fashion staple. Researchers say it can take a woman up to five days to find the perfect LBD — five days, shopping for six hours per day — a total of 30 hours. It’s like a part-time job!

LBD lovers say it’s a decision that takes time and can’t be rushed — but it will cost you.
On average the little black dress will cost $200 and women will only wear it twice.
The reason is because some women don’t want to be seen in the same outfit too many times — or they lose that “loving feeling” about it.

What’s interesting, researchers found that the little black dress is a style must-have.
Eight out of 10 women who were questioned said they own one, adding their wardrobe would be incomplete without it. And apparently half of those who don’t have an LBD are looking for one.

• Of 2,000 women surveyed, more than two-thirds bought their first little black dress between the ages of 18 and 24.

• Research shows that they hang onto it for around 11 years, wearing it for special occasions and probably will only wear it no more than twice.

• And according to the poll, 91 percent of all little black dresses are never washed or dry-cleaned.

For many women, price isn’t an issue because knowing they have it in their closet in case of a special occasion justifies the cost — even if it’s only worn twice.

Investigators spent several hours on Wednesday morning sifting through debris and said it appears the fire was accidental — although the exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation. It is not clear if there were working smoke detectors in the home.

Firefighters say that when they arrived on the scene shortly after 12:30 a.m., the home was fully engulfed with flames shooting from the windows and roof. Firefighters said the wife and mother of the victims was in the front yard when they arrived. She told them there were still three people inside the burning home. When crews got inside, they immediately found the victims.

Greve and his daughter, Donnica, were pronounced dead at the scene, while the young boy later died at an area hospital.

In a statement from Burke Elementary where Donnica attended, the Hickman Mills School District said donations for the mother will be accepted daily at Burke Elementary.
