Police Search Wooded Area in Case of Missing 10-Month-Old Baby

Firefighters join in the search for 10-month-old Lisa Irwin

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nearly 100 police officers are searching on foot and on horseback for missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin, feared abducted from her home Monday night.Police are searching an area north of 210 Hwy between Chouteau and N. Brighton in Kansas City, Mo. Officers are also rappelling down an embankment in their search, but it’s unclear at this time what led them to the area, or what they’re searching for.

An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday morning after the father of 10-month-old Lisa Irwin discovered her missing.

According to police, Lisa Irwin was last seen asleep in her crib around 10:30 p.m. at her home at 3620 North Lister. Authorities say that it appears that the suspect entered and exited through a bedroom window.

Police say that the child’s parents have been cooperative with the investigation. According to a police spokesman, around 100 officers from local, county, state and federal agencies are involved in the investigation.

Irwin is described as white, with blond hair and blue eyes, about 30 inches tall and weighing 26-30 pounds. Her family says that she has two bottom teeth, a small bug bite under her left ear, a beauty mark on her right outer thigh and currently has a cold with a cough.

The family says that she was last seen wearing purple shorts and a purple shirt with white kittens on it.
