Recently Resigned Administrators to Join Covington in Michigan
While controversy surrounded Dr. John Covington’s resignation as superintendent from the Kansas City School District on August 24, 2011, lines of loyalty were being drawn. On Thursday, one day after three Kansas City School District administrators announced their resignation, it’s learned they will join their former boss in Michigan.
Those joining Covington include:
- Rebecca Lee-Gwin, former Kansas City School District chief financial officer
- Mary Esselman, former Kansas City School District chief of curriculum officer
- MiUndrae Prince, former Kansas City School District chief academic officer
Covington is expected to make an official announcement in a 1 p.m. news conference in Detroit.
As the new leader of an agency in Michigan, Covington’s new role is to improve the state’s lowest-performing schools.
