Bishop Finn Makes Deal with Prosecutor in Child Porn Case

A deal and an indictment.

Bishop Robert Finn makes a deal with the Clay County prosecutor to avoid any criminal charges stemming from how he handled a case involving a priest accused of possessing child pornography.  This while a Clay County grand jury indicts the priest, Shawn Ratigan on Tuesday.

By entering into an agreement with prosecutors, Bishop Finn will not be prosecuted for how he handled the allegations against Ratigan.

This latest development angers members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, SNAP, tell FOX 4 this agreement is only protecting the Bishop not the children.

Bishop Robert Finn of the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City - St. Joseph released a statement regarding the five-year compliance agreement. The agreement dictates the Bishop is required to meet with the prosecutor in person every month to discuss any allegations of sex abuse against a child and what steps the church has taken. Bishop Finn says he already appointed an Ombudsman to receive and investigate allegations.
