The Missouri Democratic Party is under new leadership. The Committee nominated and elected Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders as the new chair.

Sanders takes over for Susan Montee, as she begins her campaign for Lieutenant Governor. Sanders tells FOX 4, his new role will not come before his responsibilities in Jackson County. Sanders says, "it's a job you can do on nights and weekends, it doesn't interfere with the day job that I have here and that was ultimately what I told members of the committee."

The chairman of the Democratic Party is a volunteer position and requires very little travel.
