OLATHE, Kan. — Crews are cleaning up after a tractor-trailer carrying gasoline rolled onto its side while turning from southbound I-35 onto southbound US-169 on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say that nobody was injured in the wreck, which happened around 4:00 p.m., but a nearby Waffle House and Chili’s Grill & Bar Restaurant, immediately downwind of the leak, were evacuated as a precaution.

According to police, gasoline from the tanker’s cargo leaked out and entered a nearby storm drain, where crews managed to contain it. Crews were able to stop the leak around 5:30 p.m.

The amount of gasoline leaked has not yet been determined. The exit to US-169 from southbound I35 and US-169 at 151st Street remains closed as a private contractor works to clean up the spilled gasoline.
