Wins for the Tigers in NYC; Jayhawks at Home

NEW YORK CITY — The Missouri Tigers are now playing like a Top Ten ranked team, as they took their fast-paced brand of basketball to the East Coast, beating Villanova 81-71 at Madison Square Garden as part of the Jimmy V Classic.

The Tigers moved to 8-and-0 for the season.

Over in Lawrence, the Jayhawks had a tough time putting down Long Beach State.

Long Beach State closed within five points, 77-72, with 3:01 remaining on a 3-pointer and two free throws, but the Jayhawks held off their run.

Final: 88-80.

Kansas takes on No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse.
