SHAWNEE, Kan. -- The Salvation Army may have received one of the best donations it has ever seen, as an anonymous donor left a nearly-full carat diamond at a Shawnee Walmart donation kettle.

Officials with the Salvation Army say that the diamond, which local jeweler Carol Meirotto of Meirerottos Midwest Jewelery estimated could be worth up to $3,500 on the market, will help stock their food pantries with a lot of food this winter.
