KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Hailee Kaliban opened City Gym not long ago. She says there are a lot of options when choosing a gym, so know the ones that are important for your fitness goals.
"If you know that motivation is key for you, ask questions about group exercise classes. Make sure there are classes at the times that you think you're going to want to go," Kaliban says.
Many gyms are offering group classes as part of their regular membership. City Gym is one of them. For about $60 each month, plus a $99 enrollment fee you have access to cardio and weightlifting equipment and group classes.
24 hour fitness offers group classes and some facilities also have a pool and basketball court included in a $25 membership fee each month plus a nearly $30 enrollment fee.
Scott Fitness has free classes with membership as well as cardio and weight equipment for $40 a month.
Woodside Health and Tennis Club has indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, two fitness centers, and group classes for $75 a month for one adult.
Services at the YMCA vary depending on the club. Membership fees there vary depending on income and club.
Stand alone bootcamp classes are also becoming popular.
"You don't have to think about what you're doing, you just come in and do what is on the board," says Derek McDaniel from Kosama.
Kosama is a class featuring cardio, kickboxing , kettlebell, and yoga classes six days a week. The eight week program costs $349.
Other classes like Bootcamp Fitness by Cross Fit cost $199 a month for twelve months of unlimited classes. It also offers cardio and weightlifting classes.
Urban Hiit Fitt offers kickboxing, nutrition classes and self defense classes for $168 every 6 weeks.
