KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Residents of  an apartment complex are reaching out for help after losing everything to a fire. The fire destroyed a fourplex on Thursday, December 29 at the Greens Apartments in Kansas City.

People who lived in the building where the fire happened say they lost almost everything. Residents FOX 4 talked to say they believe it was an accident.

The apartment complex moved the displaced residents into temporary housing, but many of them need clothing and household items. Many of the fire victims say they cannot afford renters insurance.

The Red Cross is assisting, but assistance is limited for the long haul.

An insurance inspector spent Tuesday afternoon going through the damage. The KCMO Fire Department says this is an ongoing investigation.
