Missouri Tigers Ranked No. 2
COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Kentucky Wildcats are the new number one ranked team in both the USA TODAY/ESPN and AP polls, while the Missouri Tigers are close behind, ranked number two.
Kentucky received all 31 first place votes in the coach’s poll and received 61 first place votes in the writer’s poll. Missouri received two first place votes in the writer’s poll as did third ranked Syracuse.
The Orangemen lost their first game of the year on Saturday to Notre Dame and dropped from first to third in the AP. Syracuse is fourth in the coach’s poll. Ohio State is ranked 4th and 3rd respectively in the writer’s and coach’s polls. The Kansas Jayhawks are ranked fifth in both polls. Kansas is also the only unbeaten team in Big 12 play.
The AP poll has Baylor sixth, North Carolina seventh, followed by Duke, Georgetown and Michigan State. The coach’s poll has Duke sixth, followed by Baylor, North Carolina, Murray State and Georgetown. Kansas State is ranked 22nd in the AP poll and 24th in the coaches USA TODAY/ESPN poll.
