Lakeside Tavern: Adult Tator Tots


  • 1 whole garlic clove
  • 2 oz of bacon bits
  • 6 oz of shredded potato (hash brown shredded)
  • 4 oz of shredded gruyere (swiss)
  • 6 oz of mashed potato
  • ½ cup scallions
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  • Start the potatoes in boiling water with salt and whole garlic clove
  • Crisp bacon in oven and cool then chop into bits
  • Chop scallions to desired size and set aside.  Shred gruyere and set aside
  •  Mash the potato in a mixer and combine all the ingredients together in the mixer
  • Remove from mixing bowl and press flat into a pan
  • Chill in the cooler, remove from cooler and form into “tator tot” shape



  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 4 cups of seasoned panko
  • 2 cups flour


  • In three separate mixing bowls create a breading station
  •  One bowl has egg and milk, one with flour, and one with panko
  • Then take the “tots” and start with flour, then egg wash, then panko
  • Then fry until golden brown, and serve hot with house aioli on the side

House Aioli


  • 1 gal mayo
  • 3.5 cups horseradish
  • 4 tbl Garlic minced
  • 4 tbl lemon juice
  • 20 oz ketchup
  • 2 tbl Worcestershire
  • 1 tbl Lawry’s
  • 1 tbl salt
  • 1 tbl white pepper
  • 2 qt sour cream

Mix mayo and sour cream

Blend in remaining ingredients until incorporated

Label date and store in the walk-in.
