Fire, Explosion Destroys OP Apartment Building

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — One person was injured after an explosion and fire at an Overland Park apartment building on Thursday night.

According to the Overland Park Fire Department, a fire broke out at an apartment building in the 6100 block of Marty around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries following an explosion.

The Red Cross is helping residents displaced by the fire. The cause and damage total from the fire are still under investigation.
