LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - The metro could play a role in the world's economic and energy future.  That's the message U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman brought to Dow Kokam in Lee's Summit Thursday.

The Dept. of Energy recently divvied up $175 million in grants to companies working to wean America off foreign fossil fuel.  Dow Kokam received $4.9 million for lithium-ion battery research and development.
