Royals Exercise 2013 Option on Manager Ned Yost
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals have decided to keep manager Ned Yost around for a bit longer.
The team announced that they have exercised their option with Yost to keep him with the team at least through the 2013 season. Yost signed a two-year deal that included an option for a third year when he took over the job in 2010.
Yost, who has a 123-163 record with the Royals since taking over for Trey Hilman in May of 2010, will be leading a young team that is expected to compete for the AL Central title for the first time in almost a decade.
The Royals begin spring training at Surprise, Arizona, next Monday.
