Man Killed Over Price of Condoms
DETROIT — An argument over the price of condoms ends with a man’s death. The altercation happened at a BP Gas Station in Detroit.
A customer demanded that the clerk charge less for the condoms. When the clerk didn’t cooperate, the customer got angry and started knocking over items in the store. The clerk responded by pulling out a gun and firing shots.
The clerk shot the customer who eventually died from his injuries. Police say they aren’t sure if the clerk intended to hit the customer or not.
Community activists are enraged by the violent incident.
“We try to deal with conflict resolution and mediation,” said activist Ron Scott. “A lot of people here especially in the black community have had issues with the gas station owners. Well of course some of the gas station owners have died too and what we were trying to do was bridge the gap.”
A frequent customer at the BP station where the incident happened says he’s seen the clerk pull out a gun during verbal arguments before.
