WASHINGTON D.C. -- Cherry blossom season in the nation's capital has arrived a little early this year.  The peak bloom date is usually April fourth, but a mild winter sent the flowers into full bloom about two weeks earlier this year.

For 100 years the trees' white and pink flowers have decorated Washington's Tidal Basin.

Over the next month, about one-million people are expected to check out the blooms as part of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
