Child Struck By Car After Getting Off School Bus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Authorities are investigating after a child was struck by a vehicle in south Kansas City on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the 6-year-old child – identified as a student at Truman Elementary School in the Hickman Mills School District – was struck by a car near 93rd Terrace and Bannister Road around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

A witness told FOX 4 News that the child had just gotten off a school bus and was trying to cross the street when he was struck.

The child was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Police say that the driver stopped after the accident, and that they are investigating if the weather was a factor in the accident.
